Nathaniel Ru Takes a Serious Look at Fast Food Alternatives

When healthy eating is something that people are talking positively about it is a sign that something has changed in the way that people perceive healthy food. For people that are within distance of a Green Sweetgreen restaurant it is clear that Nathaniel Ru is part of the equation for this new perception.

He is someone that is making people rethink healthy food, and the positive spin that he has put on healthy food options with the centerpiece menu items like warm bowls is enough to make people take notice.

Nathaniel Ru is what many people might call an accidental entrepreneur. He did not have a desire to go right into the restaurant business as a Georgetown University student. This is not what he had come to college for.

The restaurant aspect of his resume came into place as he was a student that was looking for a healthy eating choice. It would be his lack of choices that made him passionate about the possibilities of starting his own restaurant.

When the seed for healthy eating was planted in his mind this would be something that will eventually give birth to Sweetgreen. Nathaniel and his team have been running these restaurants ever since the word got out about this company. Sweetgreen has become the restaurant chain that appears to be just what the millennial crowd needed. Read more: Sweetgreen Entreprenuers | Fortune and  Nathaniel Ru | LinkedIn

There are Sweetgreen music festivals. Sweetgreen is commonly purchased by school systems for entire classes. There is also a Sweetgreen app that people can download to their phones and tablets to make orders. It is the trendy healthy food option that has been created by a group of millennials.

Some may say that the best possible way to reach a millennial crowd is by getting other millennials in the driver’s seat. This is exactly what Nathaniel Ru is. This is what dating app developer like Whitney Wolfe is.

These are young people that have ideas that other millennials are also interested in. This gives people like Nathaniel Ru a voice among his own generation.

Nathaniel has been excited about the success of Sweetgreen in the north and east, but he really is passionate about going further south with the Sweetgreen infrastructure.

Obesity rates are typically higher in the south so Sweetgreen may serve as a breath of fresh air for all of those that need healthy food alternatives to curb bad eating habits.

Tony Petrello: Philanthropist and CEO

Tony Petrello may not be a household name for most families. He is CEO of Nabors Industries, and largely an unknown figure to most of America. Though he has never given moving speeches on TV or gone viral on the internet, Anthony Petrello represents what should be one of the most important qualities in America. He represents the unsung hero of our nation, those who are never acknowledged or thanked for doing more than their fair share to help preserve basic kindness and helping others.

Touted as the top paid CEO in the United States in 2012, Tony Petrello’s success at Nabors Industries, a leading gas drilling company and oil drilling company, naturally spurred envy and admiration. However, Petrello believes in the general sentiment that Wall Street succeeds in its greed while Main Street suffers. Tony Petrello is a brilliant manager and business strategist, but those who know him best know that he is humble and honest as well.

Anthony Petrello persued philanthropic endeavors before he was made CEO at Nabors Industries. However, after the premature birth of his daughter, he and his wife were compelled to make even more contributions. Tony and Cynthia Petrello are committed and have donated millions of dollars to the medical community.

The drive for research for Petrello’s is personal. Their daughter was born prematurely and weighted only 20 ounces at birth. She developed periventricular leukomalacia (PVL), which is relatively common in premature babies. PVL is developed because oxygen fails to reach the brain because of insufficient blood flow. Eventually the illness developed into cerebral palsy, affecting motor skills and development. Tony and Cynthia witnessed Carena practicing the chewing motion millions of times before her brain recognized the action.

Like most parents, the Petrello’s never expected anything to be wrong with their baby. When Carena was born prematurely, and developed complications that affect her health for the rest of her life, they got down on their knees and prayed for Divine intervention on their daughter’s behalf.

Carena humbles the Petrello’s because of her continual good attitude, despite the ongoing suffering due to her illness. The Petrello’s are also inspired by Carena’s kindness to everyone she meets. Carena has been under the care of the Texas Children’s Hospital, and Tony and Cynthia hope that treatment for her daughter and other children complications from premature birth, will soon be developed. That is the passion of Tony Petrello.

From Education to the Arts, How Betsy DeVos’ Charitable Giving Supports Organizations Across the U.S.

Mrs. Betsy DeVos and her husband, Dick DeVos, have a charitable history steeped in giving back to charities and organizations. Mrs. Betsy DeVos is best known for her works in the politcal sector, now serving as America’s 11th Secretary of Education. She has led a lengthy and polished career in the education politics world to get to that elite position. She served for six years as the chair of Michigan’s Republican Party and had led a multitude of successful political campaigns, political action committees and has worked diligently with a variety of education focused non profits in a leadership capacity.

The Betsy and Dick DeVos Family Foundation was founded as a way to further extend the amount of support the couple could give to the ever growing list of charities they support. Their financial support has always been a staple of their lifestyle but it has continued to grow over the years. According to the latest reports in 2015 the DeVoses gave back by contributing $11.6 million in contributions to many organizations and education institutions. This number of incoming funds will be an incredbile help to these organizations. For the DeVos Family Foundation this number also includes a series of pledges to continue additional donations to the organizations they support.

Among the many organizations they support are noted ones that are doing the hands on work that Betsy DeVos is fighting for in her role as U.S. Education Secretary. She stands behinds policy that will allow greater education for children, especially those that come from low income families. These include School Choice, which gives families access to additional options for schooling outside of the simple “district” model that zones children into the schools where their parents live, regardless of that school’s level of education. She also supports various organizations that promote Charter Schools as a viable choice for education and a school voucher program to help with the cost of things like school lunches.

In addition to supporting causes that align with her political goals in education reform, Betsy DeVos stands behind things like children in the arts. They are avid supporters of the ArtPrize competition, which encouraging students to create compelling art pieces that are displayed in a stately event. Students get really into the event and come up with amazing pieces. For example, this past year a “Wounded Warrior Dogs” exhibit won first prize in the three dimensional category. The incredibly moving display featured six hand carved wooden dogs. These dogs were all wounded or rehabilitated during their time as service dogs at wartime. The artists’ goal was to show that these dogs fought for their country. In a moving main exhibit, the seventh dog stood under a tiny coffin and an American flag. This dog gave the ultimate sacrifice. What a creative outfit for students to showcase their artistic skills at such a young age.

The DeVos Family Foundation is estimated to have given over $100 million in the family’s lifetime and continues great work in education and beyond.
